Google changed the name of its chatbot from Bard to Gemini on 8 Feb 2024.

On 25 July 2024, free-tier experience upgraded to to Gemini 1.5 Flash, for faster and more helpful responses.

On 13 August 2024, Google rolled out Gemini Live.

On 11 December 2024, Google launched Gemini 2.0.

GPT-4o mini unveiled on 18 July 2024.

Comparison of GPT 3.5 vs 4.0

On 25 July 2024, Open AI announced ChatGPT search , a temporary prototype of new AI search features that give you fast and timely answers with clear and relevant sources. It was launched on 13 October 2024.

Canvas was introduced on 3 October 2024 and it was launched on 11 December 2024. More about Canvas here.

From 16 December 2024, Open AI is rolling out ChatGPTs AI search for all to use. More information here.

On 18 December 2024, Openai confirmed that you can now chat with ChatGPT via Whatsapp. Global users can do this by adding add the number +1-1800-242-8478 to you mobile/cell phone. More information here and here.

The latest generation of the popular chatbot and AI model comes in three versions, Opus, Sonnet and Haiku, each serving different markets and purposes. 

Opus powers the paid-for version of the Claude chatbot, Sonnet the free version and Haiku is a cheaper to run model available for third-party developers.
